WHY I’m Running
local economy / Housing / Natural resources
I'm running because our community needs compassionate leadership who cares first and foremost about the lives of our city's citizens. I've spent my entire career listening to people's struggles, and have personally felt the real, kitchen table issues that people are worried about. I've helped coworkers and patients make hard decisions, based on what we know works for others. I hope to take that wisdom into public office, helping this great city find proven solutions to our unique problems.
Our community is facing unprecedented challenges. Extreme growth combined with housing speculation has led to an immense real estate boom, threatening access to housing across the state and especially for Kalispell residents. My own son had his rental sold out from under him and had to move home due to rising rent costs. This, combined with the economic devastation of the pandemic, has led to many families across the city worrying about affordability. Our growth cannot be sustained without real community action to addressing housing.
With this influx of new residents must also come a firm dedication to our natural resources that fuels our economy at all levels.
More about Nurse Dahlman
My husband and I have two sons and a house in the center of Kalispell. I'm an avid outdoorswoman, taking advantage of our plentiful recreational resources by camping, boating, hiking, and fishing.
I graduated from nursing school with honors while raising my son. For the last 7 years, I have been using my education and experience to care for our community's ill, injured, and elderly during some of the most difficult parts of their lives. At work as a nurse, I regularly have to make difficult, in-the-moment decisions that affect people’s lives.
My entire life I've been motivated by a dedication to self-education and compassion for members of my community. That's why, in the face of adverse working conditions, I took a leading role in the unionization of the nursing staff at our local hospital. My fellow nurses and I took a needed stand to ensure that we could care for our community better than ever.
